It’s fitting that we start the first review of 2025, at the end of dry January, with 0.5 by Crafty Nectar.
This cider is described as “mythical” and a “Unicorn” cider due to its rare trait of having full flavour and body for its low alcohol content – but does it live up to it…lets explore!

This is where the cider really shines. It has a really nostalgic smell to it. It’s punchy, tangy and smells a lot like an Apple Tango on a warm summer day!

The taste journey of this cider is a lot like the Jurassic World water ride at Universal studios.
It starts off down the river with a sweet and smooth journey, meandering through calm jungle, and looking at cute, friendly dinosaurs. Then you ascend to the top where you’re met with a tangy-as-hell T-Rex and come crashing down into a medium finish with apple skin notes.
As you leave the ride, you’re left with a taste in your mouth as a reminder of the experience you’ve had…luckily, this is a great taste, and not a nauseating one!
In short, 0.5 is medium sweet, very tangy, punchy and full of flavour for a low alcohol cider, with fresh apple juice notes and subtle hint of melon.
I think we can agree it’s probably the best low abv cider out there and that it’s mythical and also a Unicorn.
