Oh boy! We’ve been excited to write about this one!
TL;DR (Too long didn’t read) – Pretty bloody good. Burst of intense marmalade flavour. Gently sweet with a smell of preserved fruits. An odd, but nice, salty undertone. BUY IT!
Dan’s Thoughts
First of all, the branding looks awesome and immediately stood out to me. A 20 litre, pale blue box with a large “Day of the Dead” inspired skull on the front. They tell me it’s a marmalade one – I don’t like marmalade, but I try it anyway.
It’s a clear cider with the colour of pressed apples and a drop of carrot essence? It’s slightly more orange than a generic cider, I guess that’s due to the marmalade.
Nose – sweet mother of sugar, was this a sweet one. Definitely a welcoming smell of preserved fruits.
In the mouth, the first thing I noticed was how soft and light this cider was. That sounds like an odd thing to notice or way to describe a liquid, but that’s what I got. Just like its smelt, this cider is very sweet. I’m sure the tooth fairy was stalking me as I stumbled home after a few of these. I definitely wont be telling my dentist about this one – it’s bad enough when he asks how many sugars I have in my tea!
I don’t know if it’s the Brighton Sea air, but there is a slight salty after taste and I really liked it. It’s very similar to the salted caramel combination that is becoming more and more common.
Final thoughts – I FREAKING LOVED IT. I think this is my new favourite. It stands out from any other cider I’ve had. It’s so unique. I’d urge anyone into their sweeter ciders to try it, especially if you don’t like carbonated drinks.
Cheers.
