Thatchers Open Award-winning Apprenticeship Programme

Yesterday, 5th January 2022, the well-known Somerset Cider maker, Thatchers, announced their Award-winning apprenticeship programme.

For those of you that don’t know, Thatchers was formed in 1904 and resides on the same farm today. Myrtle farm in Sandford, Somerset, boasts an incredible five hundred acres of pure appley goodness.

On their website they announced they’d be hosting their Early Careers Apprenticeship Open Day at their mill on Myrtle Farm on Saturday 29th January 2022.

This marks the fifth year that Thatchers have opened up the award-winning programme.
On the day, people will be given the chance to explore Myrtle farm, the mill and speak to their current apprentices.

Emma Cox who looks over the apprenticeship programme had this to say:

“As a company we’re so proud of our Somerset roots. We’re committed to investment in our facilities here in Sandford, which is why all our ciders are made and packaged here. That leads to a wide variety in roles – from being part of our farm team, to a cider maker; from engineers to sales executives; from finance to customer service. Students who have completed their apprenticeship with us at Thatchers have also gone on to gain higher qualifications to help them even further in their roles.”

So far, over 40 people have taken part in the programme and it would seem that those who are successful this year, can expect to be welcomed in September of this year.

If you love Cider and you’re interested, you can register for their open day here.
