KEY TAKEAWAYS
Purbeck No.10 is a bog-standard amber coloured cider.
It looks lovely and refreshing when poured outside in the sunshine.
I like the whiff of burnt toffee which hints at a bittersweetness of the cider.
There is also a musky, leathery smell which is certainly unique.
As you’d hope, the appley notes run through the experience too.
Purbeck market this cider as their more accessible cider. A cider that would rival the likes of Thatchers Gold, Inches etc.
It holds its own very well in a unique way, however.
When you take this cider into your mouth, you’re greated with a lovely sweet start.
Waves of light caramel wash across the tongue.
When you take it back, you’re left with a beautiful aftertaste of light traditional, tartness.
It’s a really nicely balanced cider. No flavour overwhelms the other.
I don’t think the traditional finish to Purbeck No.10 is enough to put of those with a sweeter tooth. I actually think it might help those with a sweet persuasion to branch into the bittersweet arena.
